Drop Southwestern Biscuits
Recipe Yield: 70 Drop Biscuits

A wonderful biscuit with cheddar cheese, green onions, and garlic powder.
1  5 lb. box  Pillsbury Buttermilk Biscuit Mix *
4  cups  Cheddar cheese, sharp, shredded
1 1/2  cups  Green onions, thinly sliced
2  tsp.  Garlic powder
1  tsp.  Cayenne pepper
5  cups  Water, cold (50 degrees F.)
  • Place biscuit mix, cheese, onions, garlic powder and cayenne pepper in mixer bowl; dry blend in low speed using a paddle for 1 minute.
  • Add water, mix in low speed for 1 minute or mix by hand until combined.
  • Drop using a No. 20 dipper (about 2 oz. dough) onto paper-lined sheet pans. Egg wash and sprinkle with yellow cornmeal, if desired.
  • Bake in 450 degree F. conventional oven (400 Degrees F. convection oven) about 7 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  • * To substitute 1 box (5 Lb.) Pillsbury Southern Style Biscuit Mix, decrease water to 4 1/2 cups. To substitute 1 box (5 lb.) Pillsbury Biscuit Mix, decrease water to 4 1/4 cups. To substitute 1 box (5 lb.) Pillsbury Homestyle Biscuit Mix, substitute 6 cups cold milk for the water.
